“Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)” are the compounds of carbon that undergoes photochemical reactions in the atmosphere. Source of VOC emissions from the chemical process industries include dryers, reactors, distillation systems, storage tanks and transfer operations, filters etc. Strict MOEF&CC conditions on chemical process industries for solvent recovery more than 98 % has encouraged many industries to adopt various technologies to improve on solvent recovery and control VOC emissions.
VOC control methodology includes:
- Categorization of solvents used based on volatility characteristics, odour threshold and utilization rate
- Mapping of solvent losses through product wise solvent mass balance study for each solvent utilized in the process.
- Developing VOC emission inventory product wise/vent wise.
- Suggesting cost effective and efficient abatement strategies.
